Got my new Akai EWI USB Yesterday!
Got my Akai EWI USB today from Matt of course with the roller mod and weight reduction.
Loaded the Aria software on my studio desktop Mac G5 and everything works great. Got
the horn set up and tweaked out pretty good and having fun with the 75 sounds included
with Aria. Can't load Aria on my laptop because it's a G4 iBook. Don't mind though
because it's already got Reason 4, Sample Tank, Sonik Synth, Sample Moog, Sample Tron
and Miraslov Philharmic loaded on it. The EWI USB works fine with all of those. I went to my
jazz duo rehearsal tonight with just my laptop and EWI USB. I'll use it on my next gig
Wednesday Night. You can really do some interesting EWI configuration set ups with the
software. I can even do various set-ups with the Aria sofware and save them as sysex files
and load them from my laptop using a simple sysex loader.
The sounds in Aria are OK and you can do some very musically worthwhile things by
stacking up to 4 sounds.
I was having fun with one set up by using Sustain (CC#64) on the Pitcbend up plate. It
work like a sustain pedal and I was playing 4 note chords by arppegiating quickly.
I'll try and get some demos up on YouTube in the next few days.
